Welcome to my farm. My name is Denise Kocher and we are located in the small town of Stroh in north/east Indiana. After researching and learning about dairy goats, I decided on Nubians as they are an all purpose goat breed-milk/meat/hide. And they are the sweetest, most adorable goats! ;) I purchased my first young doelings in 2008 and now have a small herd of 11. I am raising registered Purebred Nubians that are CAE and CL free for good conformation and quality milk production. I make and sell Goat Milk Soaps & Lotions and participate in Linear Appraisal (LA). We attended our first show in July and would like to show more in the future as my" regular job" schedule permits.
The health of my herd is very important to me. All kids are removed at birth and hand raised on CAE prevention away from all adult goats. They receive heat treated colostrum and pasteurized milk. They have regular cocci prevention, wormings and vaccinations. All goats are fed free choice alfalfa hay and pellets, a special mineral blend including Cargill Right Now Onyx, kelp and yeast supplements and sodium bicarbonate. On the milkstand the does also receive an 18% lactator pellet supplemented with a grain blend of oats/corn/barley/black oil sunflower seed. Adult goats receive regular wormings, BoSe (selenium injections), are copper bolused twice a year and are tested annually for CAE. Herd tested Q-fever negative 06/11.
I also keep a small flock of laying hens-mostly Maran, Welsummer, Isa Brown and Ameraucana-that keep us in a steady supply of colorful eggs that I sell. I have many other *fun* hobbies, which include fishing, winemaking, crocheting, gardening, cooking/canning, cheesemaking.
Goats, chickens and all others are watched over by our Anatolian LGD-in-training, Kagan. :)

Thank you for looking. Kids due in March--reserve your 4-H wethers early. :)
